Thanks for writing this book, Ian. Build Your Own Web Site the Right Way Using HTML & CSS should immediately be made required reading for every single course on web design or web development across the world.

This book may well shift the balance of power back towards us "normal" folk! ... This book is so good, so well-written and helpful that I'm hoping the day when I never have to suffer using poor or downright incompetent technical support or beg favours off nerdian friends again has come into view!

I read the book, which assumed no prior knowledge, and was quickly educated in how to use valid HTML and create snazzy web layouts in CSS ... The fact that my first page I created, my homepage, is Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict is an achievement that very, very few first-time webpage builders can claim ... this website took me only five days to make. From opening the book through to writing these closing words. That fact even has my head spinning ... any teacher, beginning or experienced, who is fearful of creating a functional website would benefit from giving this book a spin.

I recommended it to a colleague a few weeks ago. He was going to dust off his copy of Frontpage and buy a book for it, but I managed to persuade him to resist the lure of the dark side. I saw him today and he was raving about the book, said it was pitched at just the right level for someone like him who knows how to use a computer but has absolutely no web experience. Nice work!
Dan Champion, web designer
WOW!!! Great book, excellent resource. I'm one of the folks mentioned early in the book; I have been developing sites for three years now learning from a variety of resources, including on-line tutorials, W3C recommendations, and sampling web site's source. Information provided in Chapter 1 as well as the subsequent chapters has increased my knowledge and assuredly will better the quality of my upcoming projects. The content is presented well for many readers with varying levels of experience. I have no doubt this book will continue to be a valuable reference as I continue to build my web site development business. Hats off and a hearty thanks to Ian for fine job. Rating: 5 out of 5

When you are starting out creating your first web site, many things run through your mind: What tools should I use? How do I layout my pages? What content should appear here? How do I make it look professional? How do I get users to send me feedback? What web host should I use? What is blogging? How do I track my sites statistics? All these questions and more are answered in this great book written by Ian Lloyd.
